Home tour pt 3

 Hey everyone,

The home is currently on the market, but I wanted to post a couple more times to finish up the tour!

My favorite area is our bedroom suite. I'm so thankful for the space we have as well as the nice sized bath and closet.

Here is what our bedroom looked like before it was a bedroom. We lived with the red and orange walls for several months.

We made slow but sure progress painting and trimming out while living in the house 🤯 Yes I did only paint a portion of the wall JUST so we could hang John's guitar. (It was like that for about 4 months.) (Side not on dates and amounts of time I reference, they are ALL approximate. I really have no idea how long that portion of the wall was painted before I finished it.) (Don't judge).

Again, I fell in love with the cream and grey color scheme, I feel like it softens the metal, industrial feel of the house.

We installed a sliding barn door going into the master closet, but used a regular interior door for the bath. I used a grey stain on the barn door, but I dilluted it quite a bit. In retrospect I would like it better with a darker finish.

I lived with about 4 feet of closet clothes rod for my clothes for a couple of years*. (*Again amounts of time are approximate.) (Of course this necessitated swapping fall/winter and spring/summer clothes out.) We stacked totes on this wall (below) before installing a massive wonderful closet organizer!

But then we moved up in the world! I essentially tripled my space, because now I have a double clothes hanger for skirts and tops!

Before the closet organizer, this was my space (above) 😱 but now it's my husband, my husband's space, not my husband, that would be weird. So his space also increased by about one third.

I love the window in the closet, for an extra shelf for decor or just a spot to put random objects that I don't know where to put anywhere else at the moment.

I also love the light it lets in. We dress up for church EVERY TIME so I iron a LOT. I love being able to set up and iron in a room with lots of light.

On to the BATHROOM.

I don't know if this room ties for second or third place on my favorites list. I guess it fluctuates. In winter my number one place to be is this amazing tub. It fills in about 4 minutes. (Yes, I've got it timed).

And hubby has some mechanism rigged up so we don't ever run out of hot water. (Unless you try to take a bath after everyone has had showers, the dishwasher is running AND the washer has run a hot load recently... Believe me, I've tried!!)

I also LOVE love love my crab and turtle pictures. Did I say love. Maybe that's not strong enough. I Love them.

Arent they beautiful.

Just say it. They're beautiful. 😍

Thank you.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!!

Until next time!

Upstairs! Last post!

Hey y'all, Wanted to share the pictures of our gorgeous upstairs. The main room is 40' long and 13 1/2 feet wide, and with the containers on each side. We left the whole room open with 10' windows on each end. Looking out these windows into the trees makes me feel like I'm living in a treehouse.  Going backwards: here is the deck we built, 17' above ground. So relaxing.  Landing at the top of the stairs. Love the trees. Bedroom with the deck. Sons bedroom. Daughters bedroom.  Large multipurpose "game room"  We painted around the "CMA CGM" logo and kept it for posterity.  That's it! House is sold. This build was a fun adventure! Please feel free to reach out with any questions! Hope this blog helps someone else along their container home journey! ✌️

Home Tour Intro

Hey there! I know it's been forever! I have so much to share! We have gotten so much done, and I'm so ready to burn my paint brushes! Haha, not really, because I have lots of other projects that I can't wait to get done once I'm finished with our house.  I am going to do a series of posts detailing different rooms with maybe some "before" pictures to remind me how thankful I am of where we've come from! (I didn't do any this time, but I plan to in the future.) I used to be very much a grey walls/stark white trim person. And I still like those colors, but for this house I have gravitated toward the warmer creams and ivory for my walls, along with medium grey for my trim. This color scheme is very rich, cozy and lends itself to my rustic French country (sortof) decorating style that also has a bit of industrial to go along.  Here are our large, beautiful, double front doors. I went with cream for the trim as well, because the exterior trim is the same co...
Hi everyone! It's been a while, so I have lots to share! Today I'm going to talk about the decking between the containers for the top and ground floors, and a little bit about the holes we cut in the containers. This first picture is one of my favorites, it's a little out of chronological order, but I wanted it to be the first. One of the first things we did after setting the containers was build the decks between them for easier access to the two floors. We also started cutting doorways and windows. The first doorway we cut was between the foyer and the living room, you can see it in the picture above!! That was very exciting! John had stored some materials in the top containers on both sides so to access them we had to climb that crazy extension ladder. Whew, I was glad when they had the decks built and doorways cut. John used a plasma cutter to cut all the holes. We decided to put a big arched window between the dining room and the kitch...
